Várzea Forest - Amazon communities

Traditional communities of agroextrativists of so called várzea - periodically flooded Amazonian rainforest, where Atlantic Ocean tides mix with the Amazon River waters in the world biggest river island - Marajo.

These are areas with the greatest biodiversity, the highest level of oxygen production and carbon absorption and where are the greatest sweet water reservoirs on Earth. These are also areas of very sensitive and fragile nature, where its inhabitants and protectors still live in very precarious conditions.
