SOLAR SYSTEM FOR PEDRO AND HIS FAMILY OF 12

This Amazon Guard initiative is targeted to significantly improve quality of living of the family of 12, who are now in socially vulnerable conditions and without energy in the richest biodiversity region on Earth - in the Amazon Estuary.

Pedro, simple and honest men is living with his wife, aged mother and 9 children making living out of the forest by harvesting and protecting it.This is a traditional family of agroextrativists of so called várzea - periodically flooded Amazonian rainforest, where Atlantic Ocean tides mix with the Amazon River waters in the world biggest river island - Marajo. Pedro´s stilts house is located by the river, in the middle of the jungle, a half day away by boat from the nearest town Afuá. Rivers here are making function of roads and highways connecting in the form of labyrinths of thousands of canals. Their existence depends on fishing and on the forest. Unfortunately they have no access to medical care or education system, no running water or illumination at night.

Photovoltaic system that could improve Padro and his family life.

Photovoltaic system will surely improve their quality of living providing a long lasting impact on all the aspects of life. It will bring the possibility to have light at night and also to keep in the freezer their harvest and fish to sell it later, preventing from wasting even half of their production as it is currently happening in this warm and humid climate. Solar power will open a new possibility to install satellite wi-fi and connect with the world giving access to education to 9 children and will help to protect even more the forest around them.

Pedro's house

Pedro's family depends on agro extractivism production - on harvesting and protecting the richest biodiversity region on Earth. Improving their health, security and education will cause positive environmental impact and indirectly will also affect your life. Helping preserve the Amazon Rainforest we also help it to continue regulate the world's oxygen, carbon and water cycles and stabilize the climate on our planet.
