Quilombo on the Cunani River - Brazil, Amapá State

A quilombo is a Brazilian hinterland settlement founded by people of African origin, that escaped slavery. Cunani people claim to be living in this area for few hundred of years. They still wait for having the rights to the land recognized. Big part of their territory is inside of the Cabo Orange National Park in brazilian Amapá State. They are 38 families living along the Cunani River and in the Cunani Village.
